Solo Leveling Yoo Soohyun

Appearance

Soohyun is an attractive young woman with long silky brown hair, big brown eyes, and manicured nails. Later on in the story, she dyes her hair to a pale shade of purple and alters her eye color to match it.

As a model, Soohyun is often seen in very stylish and expensive outfits. However, due to her great fame, she tends to dress more casually in public and wear something over her face, such as a hat or a mask, to prevent other people from easily recognizing her.

Personality

Soohyun is affable and charming, and has a good relationship with Jinho, although she is still occasionally annoyed by his dorky antics. She is also deeply disdainful towards those with egotistical tendencies, such as Lee Minsung, and takes great pleasure in watching them get humiliated in public.

In the novel, Soohyun is implied to be close with her father, as he is very protective of her even though she is more than capable of defending herself against anyone stupid enough to put their hands on her.

History

Hunters Guild Gate Arc

Two days before Jinwoo was to be announced as Korea's 10th S-Rank Hunter, Soohyun reluctantly met with Jinho over a meal of sliced pork belly and was somewhat irritated at her cousin for forcing her to make time for him for no good reason. However, by that point in time, Jinho was completely wasted and she was forced to put up with his drunken behavior until Jinwoo called him.^[1]

Ahjin Guild Arc

After learning from Jinwoo that he wanted someone who had no actual interest in hunting for the third member of their guild, Jinho gave Soohyun a call, as she fit the bill perfectly. Although she was initially reluctant to join out of the belief that Jinho was walking her into a scam, Soohyun immediately changed her tune after learning that he was working for the Sung Jinwoo and was delighted to join the Ahjin Guild as its third member, even eagerly asking Jinwoo if they could take a selfie together so that she could post it on her Instagram.^[2] However, due to the fact that they were both celebrities, Soohyun's selfie with Jinwoo quickly went viral after she posted it online and as a result, Jinwoo was swarmed by a mob of reporters on the day of his guild's first official raid.^[3]

Trivia

• In the novel, Soohyun's hair is black instead of brown.^[4]

• In Hunter: Origin, Soohyun's backstory is expanded upon.

• Although she initially wanted to become a full-fledged hunter, Soohyun ultimately decided not to after she went overboard on her very first raid and nearly got her teammates killed. She also had no intention of working as a hunter ever again until Jinho invited her to join the Ahjin Guild as its third and final member.

• Soohyun's primary weapon of choice as a hunter was a magic rifle, which makes her the first hunter ever shown using firearms in combat.

• Soohyun was also a talented child actress and made the decision to return to acting as an adult after she realized that she wasn't fit to be a hunter.
