Solo Leveling Lennart Niermann

Lennart Niermann (레나트 니어만) is the strongest hunter in Germany, ranking 12th in the world.^[1]

Appearance

Lennart is a handsome young man with blue eyes and blonde hair. When using his powers, his eyes glow yellow. In his first appearance, he wore a long blue overcoat over a three-piece suit. During the events of the Canadian dungeon break, he wore cobalt blue armor with a light brown trim.

Personality

Despite being the strongest hunter in his homeland, Lennart is not particularly arrogant and is both polite and patient, as displayed when he waited for over two hours just for a chance to talk with Sung Jinwoo in person. He also has good judgement, as he immediately sought out Jinwoo's protection after the latter warned the international community about the threat of the Monarchs, and can be very selfless, as he risked his life to save Thomas Andre from Rakan.

History

International Guild Conference Arc

Upon arriving in America for the International Guild Conference, Lennart easily spotted Jinwoo in the crowd. He attempted to greet him, but pulled back upon sensing the massive army of shadow soldiers hidden within Jinwoo's shadow.^[2]

Monarchs War Arc

After Jinwoo issued a warning to the international community about the threat of the Monarchs, Lennart decided to seek out his help and traveled all the way to Korea to meet Jinwoo in person. Unfortunately, Thomas had happened to pick the exact same day to visit Jinwoo and repay him for sparing the lives of his guild members. As a result, Lennart never got his chance to ask Jinwoo for his protection.^[3]

Several days later, when Rakan, one of the nine Monarchs, appeared out of the blue and started rampaging across the city, Lennart was one of the first S-Ranks to arrive on the scene. Before he could make the decision to fight, Thomas shoved him out of the way and attempted to kill Rakan by himself. Although Thomas was able to fight evenly with Rakan for a considerable amount of time, he was ultimately beaten when the latter stopped holding back and activated his Spiritual Body Manifestation, prompting Lennart to step in and attack Rakan with his Charge skill.^[4]

Annoyed, Rakan attempted to kill Lennart, but was thwarted when Jinwoo suddenly showed up and axe-kicked him in the head, smashing him into the ground and saving Lennart from certain death. Knowing that it was suicide to keep fighting Rakan, Lennart decided to leave everything to Jinwoo and helped Thomas leave the scene safely to get his injuries healed.

Abilities

As the strongest hunter in Germany with a world ranking of 12th, Lennart is heavily implied to outclass every other foreign hunter (aside from the National Level Hunters) introduced before him in the series. As a testament to this, he was able to sense the presence of the massive army of shadows concealed inside Jinwoo's shadow, something not even Goto Ryuji and Cha Hae-In were able to do.

• Charge: Lennart is able to manifest a pair of transparent teal-colored gauntlets around his arms and use them to fire off powerful blasts of energy at his targets. These blasts were strong enough to blind Rakan and disorientate him, but they didn't have enough power to actually hurt him.
